About the flag

The flag of the Republic of Western Zartania was formally adopted on 25 March 300AP (1364) after the liberation of the country from the Cooperative Commonwealth of the Union of Northern Gronk by military forces from the Kingdom of Eastern Zartania. Blue and gold are the traditional colors of Western Zartania, going back hundreds of years to the time when it was an independent state. Though the exact reasoning behind the colors is unknown, many believe that they are drawn from the colors of the uniforms worn by the first soldiers that defended the country from Eastern Zartanian invasion in 43BP (1021). The pale blue diagonal stripe in the center represents the hopes and dreams of the Western Zartanian people to live in a world of peace and prosperity. The thin purple and red lines that fimbriate the diagonal are drawn from the coat-of-arms of the the first princes of Western Zartania, the Andrèv family. The Western Zartanian flag is an all-purpose flag, and serves as civil and state flags and ensigns, as well as the militia and air force flags and the coast guard ensign.
