Description of the flag

The current flag of the Dual Empire of Albion-Merité is symbolic of the empire's form of government. The country was formed by merging the Albionish population of the former Terramarc with the Meritéan population from northern Merité. The current government reflects this by merging the Albionish Empire with the Kingdom of Merité. The flag is divided diagonally dark green and dark red, the traditional Albionish colors, with a thin white band separating the two colors, symbolic of peace between the ethnic groups. In the center of the flag is the Albionish imperial arms, featuring a silver eagle on a black shield, surmounted by a gold imperial crown. The flag was officially adopted upon Albionish independence in March of 300AP.

The official dimensions of the Albionish national flag are 3:5, according to the Interior Ministry, and is used as the civil and state flag and ensign.

Ethnic Albionish Flag

by Randolphus Younger, 31-JAN-300

The ethnic Albionish flag is based on both the flag of the former Republic of Terramarc, and the flag of the protectorate of Outermarc.  It features the same Terramarc cross design in the center, but substituting the traditional Albionish colors of dark green and dark red in the quarters.  This flag is currently flown in the ethnic Albionish communities of the empire, and has de facto status as a subnational flag when flown with the national flag.

Ethnic Meritéan Flag

by Randolphus Younger, 20-JAN-300

The ethnic Meritéan flag is based on the flag of the former Kingdom of Merité.  The flag is almost exactly the same, with the blue and black colors reversed and the four outer stars in white instead of gold.  The four white stars are said to stand for the four countries into which the former Merité was divided: Albion-Merité, Wesmeria, Ulanova, and Rosardan.  The blue color stands for the hopeful future for the new states.  The gold star in the center represents the former Merité itself, and the black surrounding it is the internal turmoil that resulted in its demise.  This flag, like the ethnic Albionish one, is flown primarily by ethnic Meritéan communities, and has acheived de facto subnational status.  The flag is typically flown alongside or beneath the national flag.
-Minister of Meritéan Affairs Sir Ronald Marick, 09-MAR-301
