Claymores

National soccer team of the Kingdom of Caledon

The Caledonian national soccer team was officially founded on October 3, 300AP by order of the Caledonian Provisional Government as a step toward rebuilding the shattered country.  The team was originally the Thistlandic National Team prior to the country's fall into communist hands, and was subsequently saved by the intervention of the Greater Zartanian Empire and the United Territories of Fiarria and Nuarmia.  With that intervention came a partitioning of the former Thistland into two protectorates, with the southern one under Zartania being renamed "Caledon."  The reconstituted team's first coach was John Stewart, a former coach New Armatirion domestic leagues.  Stewart, with the advice and consent of the Provisional Government, quickly dubbed the new team the "Caledon Claymores," a reference to the fierce broadsword used by the ancient Thist people, and a symbol of their willingness to fight for their rights and freedom.  With the creation of the independent Kingdom of Caledon in late January 301AP, the Claymores continued their role, but now on a truly national level.  Below, you will find pictures of the team's uniforms, the current 22-man team roster, a few statistics about the team, and a list of games played.  The Claymores are currently a member of the International Vexillium Football Association (IVEFA). This allows the kingdom to participate in international play and tournaments under IVEFA rules, to which the team subscribes.

Short Explanation:
The uniform jersey is a modification of the original design of the Thistlandic national team, and is designed using the traditional Thistlandic, now Caledonian, national colors: black and gold.  To the front of the jersey has been added the name of the team, "Claymores," with a picture of that fearsome weapon.  The "Thistle Badge," once the symbol of Thistland and now re-adopted as the badge of the Caledonian government, appears on the shorts as a symbol of the Caledonian government's support for the team.  On the back of the jersey appears the player's last name and number.
